Donor management & nonprofit CRM · 7 alternatives compared

The best NonProfitEasy alternatives in 2026

Most organizations look past NonProfitEasy because reporting is hard to learn, pricing is quote-only by module, and Fundly crowdfunding closed in 2025. Stay if donor, pledge and grant tracking with QuickBooks is the whole job.

NonProfitEasy is the same product as Fundly CRM. Fundly's crowdfunding campaigns closed in December 2025 and moved to SignUpGenius Donations; the NonProfitEasy database is still sold.

The detail

What to weigh before you move.

Why people leave NonProfitEasy

  • The Fundly crowdfunding side closed

NonProfitEasy and Fundly are one company. Fundly stopped new campaigns on July 1, 2025, closed existing campaigns on December 1, 2025, and moved fundraising to SignUpGenius Donations. Teams that used both are already moving one half of their stack and are checking the other.

  • Reports are hard to build

Reviewers say custom reporting has a lot of options but is hard to use, and that the system is overwhelming at first. When the board wants a number, someone ends up exporting to a spreadsheet.

  • Quote-only modules and automatic upgrades

Pricing is by quote, modules are bought separately, and the terms move you to a higher plan automatically when you pass a contact or volunteer limit. Subscriptions auto-renew, cancellation has to be emailed ahead of renewal, and there are no refunds.

  • No API, wallet cards or facility booking

NonProfitEasy connects to other tools through Zapier and named integrations, with no published public API. There are no Apple or Google Wallet membership cards and no room or facility booking, so organizations that rent space run a second tool.

Communal vs NonProfitEasy

Where Communal wins
  • Membership is the core, not a module

Communal sends automated renewal reminders before and after expiry, lets members turn on auto-renew, supports fixed-date or anniversary renewal and family memberships, and issues Apple and Google Wallet cards that update when a membership renews or lapses.

  • Published prices and unlimited admins

Communal publishes its prices by member band and includes unlimited admin accounts with scoped roles. There are no contracts, billing is prorated, and you can cancel any module at any time. You can start with a free trial and no credit card.

  • Programs, facilities and volunteer shifts on the same profile

Programs and events have sessions, capacity, waitlists, member and public pricing and attendance sheets. Facility booking has approvals, invoices and rental agreements. Volunteer opportunities, recurring shifts and clock in and out hour tracking are in the base plan.

  • Donations stay covered, with a public API

Donation forms, campaign pages with goals, recurring giving, donor-covers-fees, automatic numbered tax receipts with CRA and US templates and Double the Donation matching gifts are in the base plan. A versioned REST API, Zapier webhooks and a remote MCP server come with every plan.

Where NonProfitEasy wins
  • You track pledges and grants with deadlines and tasks. NonProfitEasy has pledge and grant management built in; Communal does not.
  • Your bookkeeper wants a QuickBooks integration rather than exports with GL codes.
  • You rely on its fundraising extras: peer-to-peer pages, text-to-give and matching gift lookups in one database.
  • You are on a multi-year contract at a locked price and the product is doing the job.

Who should stay on NonProfitEasy

Stay on NonProfitEasy if you are a fundraising-led nonprofit whose work is donors, pledges and grants, your team has learned the reports, and QuickBooks matters to your finance process. The gaps above only bite if memberships, programs, volunteers or rentals are a large part of what you run.

The best fit by organization type

Best NonProfitEasy alternative for membership organizations

Communal, where membership types, automated renewals, family memberships, wallet cards and a member portal are the center of the product. Neon CRM on its Impact tier if you want memberships inside a fuller donor CRM.

Best NonProfitEasy alternative for fundraising-led nonprofits

Best replacement for Fundly crowdfunding campaigns

Zeffy for free donation forms and peer-to-peer campaigns in the US and Canada, or SignUpGenius Donations if you already use SignUpGenius. Communal campaign pages with goals and recurring giving if you also want donors on the same record as members and volunteers.

Best NonProfitEasy alternative for community associations and clubs

Communal, where resident vs non-resident pricing, facility booking with approvals and invoices, program registration and volunteer shifts sit beside donations on one record.

Switching from NonProfitEasy

How a move to Communal actually goes.

NonProfitEasy exports contacts, memberships, donations and custom fields through its reports; most moves to Communal finish in two to three weeks and the scoped migration is free.

  1. 1

Export contacts, households, membership levels with renewal dates, donation history and custom fields from NonProfitEasy; we map contacts to Communal members, households to family groups, membership levels to membership types and gifts to donation records, then run a dry-run import with validation.

  2. 2

Set up membership types, donation forms, programs or events and volunteer opportunities in Communal, import members with their existing renewal dates and load historical memberships and donations so giving history is intact.

  3. 3

Replace donate and join links on your website with the Communal portal, connect your Stripe account, send members their wallet cards, and give written notice to NonProfitEasy ahead of your renewal date.

The Big Apple Knitters Guild moved 400 members off PayPal and spreadsheets and cut 14 to 18 volunteer hours a month of reconciliation. Read the case study.

Bring us your messiest workflow. We'll walk it with you.

How the hall gets booked, how program pricing works, how you chase renewals. No canned tour. We walk Communal through your real process so you can see the fit before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

We have found no announcement that the NonProfitEasy database is closing; it is still sold through Contact Sales. What did close is Fundly crowdfunding, the same company's fundraising product: new campaigns stopped on July 1, 2025, campaigns closed on December 1, 2025, and fundraising moved to SignUpGenius Donations. Check your renewal date and contract terms before deciding.
